Re-Order Pargraph
An easy but important section under the Reading section is the Re-order Paragraphs section. The text of up to 150 words is presented on the computer screen provided at the PTE test centre in random order. Every PTE Academic aspirant will have to drag those text boxes in the correct order.
Strategies
- Skim through each paragraph very quickly so that you can get your hands on the general idea of the paragraph.
- Try and find as many pairs as possible. Sentences containing nouns, dates, years or topic sentences come in the starting of the paragraphs most of the time.
- Paragraphs beginning with conjunctions can never be a part of the starting of the argument. So, never place it in the beginning.
- Logic can very well be looked for in the dates and chronology related documents, for example, sequential words such as Firstly, secondly, lastly, finally and so on.
- Keep a track of your time using the on-screen timer.
How To Move The Boxes?
- Select, drag and drop the selected boxes using the left click on the mouse and re-order as required.
- Make the selection in the same way and then repeat the left click command on the left or the right arrow button on the screen with which you can move the selected box in whichever chosen direction. The up and down arrow buttons can also be used in the right panel to Re-order the paragraph boxes.
- If you wish to deselect a box, left-click anywhere else on the screen.
- Logic can very well be looked for in the dates and chronology related documents, for example, sequential words such as Firstly, secondly, lastly, finally and so on.
